Tommy Melder

Council Member

My wife and I have been residents of the Town of Woodworth for 25 years, married for 55 years. Two children, 5 wonderful grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. I am an active member of Calvary-Woodworth Church. I served 34 years with Procter & Gamble, now retired. Over the past 19 years, I have served as treasurer for Bayou State Squirrel Association. I am a current member of the National Rifle Association.

Once I retired, I felt the need to be of service to my community and was elected twelve years ago to my current position as a council member.   I have never missed a regular or special call council meeting in the past 12 years. Through working with my fellow council members and the mayor, I’m proud to say we operate under very stable government. Part of my responsibility on the town council involves working with the senior citizens. I also help with the town’s annual Easter activities. I have worked with my fellow council members and the mayor’s office to accomplish upgrades at the park, complete street overlay, new street signage, new municipal building, new fire station, new fire truck, generator for sewer system, cemetery parking lot, SCADA System for sewer pump stations, new police units and equipment for the police department.

The Town of Woodworth has a first-class police department, first class fire department, first-class town hall workers and the best town maintenance crew in the State. We are “Team Woodworth
