Council Member
My name is Kevin Paul Kitchen, and I am 42 years old. I have lived in Woodworth since 2003, when I married my wife, Ashley Lewis Kitchen. We have two children, Karlee and Karson, both
of whom attend Caroline Dorman Junior High. My family and I are members of Christian Worship Center.
At the age of 20, I went to work for the Alexandria Police Department (APD). My assignments included being a Community Police Officer, a patrol officer, a DARE officer, and an investigator in the Detective Division. I also served on the Crisis Intervention Team, and was chosen to be a Field Training Officer, in which capacity I served for several years, while continuing to be a Community Police officer. This was truly the most satisfying and rewarding part of my career.
In 2012, I resigned from the APD in order to help my wife expand her business, Cenla Signs. This business was founded by my wife in 2008 and primarily provided her customers with
banners, small signs, and other promotional items. My focus became the design, manufacture, and installation of large exterior signs. Because of my experience, I am a strong advocate for the small business owner, and am very aware of how government can work to bolster or stifle business. As a Councilman, I will be on the side of the “little guy,” as I work to promote Woodworth as a great place to start or expand a business.
I am very interested in hunting and fishing and providing our youth with recreational activities. I currently serve on the Board of the Red River Youth Football League, and the Alexandria Ducks Unlimited Board. I have coached all levels of baseball, starting with T-ball and continuing to the present.
As I begin my service to the community as a Town Councilman, it is my hope that I will be able to encourage more citizen involvement in the governance of their town. I hope to have open and frank discussion with the other Council members at the Town meetings prior to advancing ordinances. I hope that more citizens will actually attend the meetings and voice their opinions.
I am so very excited to serve the people of my hometown, and I hope that together, we will continue to create a town that is one of the best places there is to live in the state.
